Summer weather is here and so is our appetite for our favorite nostalgic summer treats. A healthy take on one of our summertime favorites is our Minneola Orange Creamsicle. It’s guaranteed to stir up memories of running down the ice cream truck or riding bikes to the stand, but also making our bodies healthier and happier.
Since Minneola oranges are in season in the early summer months, we encourage using them as an excellent source of vitamin C and folate, and also a good source of potassium and fiber. These hybrid mandarin oranges mix well with the banana and coconut milk to give you the creamy feeling you remember dripping down your fingertips as a kid.
We encourage you to add in the anti-inflammatory powers of Ginger and Turmeric, as you will get a little bit more spice and healthy goodness. If not, the sweet and refreshing taste of the classic Creamsicle will do just fine:
- 1 frozen organic banana
- 3 Minneola oranges peeled
- 1/2 teaspoon zest from the orange peels
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoons raw honey – optional
